So yesterday was awkward. Well, not really. Just that I started freaking out over my Polish class. I went in the morning to the library to continue my reading, and I didn't even get half way through it when I had to head on out. The reading is interesting, but I really wish that I could take it back home. I've learned I much prefer being in my own room to study than anywhere else. I have always known that, but this has just confirmed it. Plus, it would've been nice to get a few words translated as well. Although, I left early to get food, and I ended up getting a Kebab!!! It's basically a round piece of pita bread which has some sort of meat and veggies stuffed in it, with a sauce. So I got chicken and some mild sauce. Yes. It was delicious. Very fulfilling. Almost too much, to be honest, cause I nearly couldn't finish it! But it was good!
Then came class. I was exhausted, for whatever reason, and the professor was using a lot of titles and names... So yeah, it really threw me off. Even in an English taught class, if I can't pay attention due to being tired, then it's difficult, so that just tripled the difficulty. Although, I have it recorded, and I intend on listening to it many times this weekend! Perhaps I'll pick up on little things here and there. (: I must say, though, the workshop part of the class was far more enjoyable, and I wasn't as exhausted, for whatever reason. I paid attention far more easily, and it really helped that he had an interactive map, showing the lands of Poland shifting through time. Oh yes, I geeked out in joy over it! I'll need to type up those notes soon enough, so I can get corrections, and perhaps my family will be able to point out any mistakes or confusions I made information-wise as well! Maybe! Oh, plus, I was relieved that we didn't have to do the reading for this week. And even better. It's set aside somewhere for us to go find and read. No more tracking down libraries! Yeah!
That was it for yesterday. I mean, I had a great nap. That's it, though. Quite uneventful. Although, today was... not too much better. I had intended on going to read some more, but between being lazy, and it being far away, I said no. Ah, and I ended up meeting with the Mormons in Kraków today! There are only two missionaries here, both with what seems to be Polish heritage. One for sure, as his parents left the country around the same time I did. They were very nice people, and we had some nice discussions, but... these meetings are definitely helping me think through my beliefs (not in the way they would like, though...).
Then, when I got home, I asked Nate if we wanted to gather some people for a movie, when I realized everyone has their Polish class meetings today... Plans ruined, no! Then we wanted to go grab some groceries, to stop sitting in the apartment, but... we realized fresh produce would be bad to get now, right before our Zakopane trip. Foiled again! But, after talking to everyone after their Polish class, I'm not worried about missing class tomorrow; it's literally just finding out when our classes will be. Although, I am very worried about the times... It's going to depend on those people there and when the rooms are open. I mean, I'm flexible, so long as I do not have classes on Fridays. Monday through Thursday evenings are fine, but Fridays, and I'll be upset, in all honesty.
Why would I be upset? Because, some of us finally sat down and looked at potential travel plans and days that would be good for traveling. Yup, Monika and I mapped out the weekends, and if all goes well, we should be able to get to Prague/Vienna (up in the air), Lviv, Rome (cheap plane tickets!), and Istanbul!!! (Along with our preplanned Budapest trip.) So that's super exciting, in all honesty. I'm just nervous about prices and learning about classes for Polish... I won't know until Sunday, if not Monday... so argh. But... we'll see how things work out. That's me being hopeful, hahaha! That plus Monika, Nate, and I all determined we're doing a "Wawel Monday" sort of deal! (Lots of free entry that day...) So this Monday, we're going to see some things in Wawel, the dragon's den, and then the museum under the Sukienica! It's going to be super cool! That and we found out a ton of "free entry days" for other things, and we'll eventually do that while in Kraków as well. It's going to be super fun!
OH! Also, Monika helped me feel better today! She pointed out the classes, and said that I was INDEED in a more advanced class. It was a bit confusing, but I'm in B1.2 instead of B1.1! Everyone else seemed to be in the same level (A1.1, A2.2, then one person alone in B1.1), but it's super weird how the class levels are split into two. Yet at the same time, not so much. Although, I'm excited. That boosted my confidence a bit, and that means I'm closer to B2 after all. (If anything, the schedule might not work out for me in B1.2, and I miiiiight have to change to B2.1.... But we'll see how many options we have.)
That's all for today, though. Now, I should really go pack, as I'm going to Zakopane!!! Which is amaaaazing! I need to pack warm clothes, because... there will be snow!!! HOORAH! I love snow! Or I just jinxed us. That'd be super unfortunate. Well, time to pack!
