Relaxing Holiday

Well, guys, today was an incredibly relaxing day. My uncle and I spent most of it at the house. We wished my aunt a Happy Name Day, as I told you last time. We took a short walk around the block and stopped by the cemetery again to make sure the candles were still burning, and they were. Although, we noticed that on my mom’s dad’s family’s grave there was some spilled wax, so my uncle cleaned that off. During this short walk, I learned quite a bit more about Polish history, including about a name called Leopold Okulicki (I think I spelled that correctly). This man was a commander of the Polish Army during World War II, which during that time, was obviously illegal as Poland technically wasn’t a country, since ya know… Germany, Russia, combined invasion. Yeah, great times… Anyways, there was a trial against 16 rather important commanders once the war was over by the Russians. After this trial, the Russians asked these men to sign off on a document that would basically swear loyalty to Russia and say that they did not want a free Poland, essentially. This man, Leopold, refused, and for that, was sent to jail and died in jail. He was not going to throw aside his honor for his freedom, and he much rather die for the cause of a free Poland than to live and lie about where his loyalties lie. Quite inspirational, I’d say. Though, it’s yet another story that just shows how horrible it got during those times, when Russia took over Poland and tried to eventually wipe it off the map. But we are a stubborn and hardy people, so that quite didn’t work out, fortunately. :P (Btw, not all of this might be accurate; it's from my memory.)
Besides that, I learned about some important places in Kraków that I should know before I go there, like Piwnica pod Baranami, a place where musicians play that’s been around since 1955, and a coffee shop called… oh dear, Jama… Jama something… So it was really interesting to read about that as well as certain musicians. My uncle and I just stayed in after our walk, though. We listened to music, talked about history and Polish, and I somewhat caught up on AGT. I also determined my own name day is November 10. Well, the closest name day I could find to my own, soooo yeah. In fact, that was the same name day as my grandmother! From my dad’s side! Which is really neat. (: Also uploaded some pictures, and more will be coming tomorrow. It’s been hard to get a good chance to upload them, unfortunately, as it’s more time-consuming than a simple text post like these blogs.
So my uncle and I left the house around 17:25 to get to the train station for my train out, since the buses weren’t running today (holiday and what not). We got to the train station just in time. Like, we walked up the stairs to the platform, and the train came up. I also now have a radio in my apartment, which is incredibly helpful. Livens things up. (: Plus, listening to people talk on the radio will improve my language as well. I have a knife that actually will cut things instead of the dull knives I had, haha. (My butter knives cut better than the knives I was provided with here… but I can’t be too picky! Just was an amusing note.) And I got more hangers! Yay clothing! Ohohoh! And tape! To put things up on the wall! So I’ll be doing that as soon as I feel up to it, as that’ll take some energy. Which, right now, for whatever reason, I have none. So it’s time to finish this mini update. <3 Off to work in the morning once more! This week ought to be quite interesting… I hope it goes well!

P.S. - When I say today, I actually mean yesterday in this case, haha. On to work!
